Art and Flower Show

by Flower Express on July 23, 2011

Flower Express was honored to have two designers take part in this years Art and Flower show put on by the Alias Chamber Ensemble at the W.O. Smith Music School.  Guest enjoyed a night of food and drink, music and art, with a silent auction all of which enables the Alias Chamber Ensemble to give back to the community.  Twenty-six local artists lent their time and talent to create beautiful paintings while over a dozen floral designers worked their magic to create floral art to pair up with the paintings.  Floral pieces complimented, reflected, contrasted and inspired a panel of judges as well as the guests.

Flower Express co-owner Derek Vance created a mosh pit of bold colors for Michael Bush’ “String Quartet” using tropical antherium and pincushion protea, spiky liatris and hanging amaranthus.

Diane Gupton, one of our Belle Meade shop designers, earned the people’s choice award for her design.  Go Diane!!!  Being multi-talented Diane used her own painting skills to enhance a vase with geometric shapes in colors that matched her artist’s painting.  This mused together a floral creation of classic white calla lilies and antique hydrangea, orange yarrow, unique honeycomb ginger and eye-popping black willow. It was a memorable night and we are proud of our participation and of our in house winner Diane.
